Amazon ECS adds GPU sharing via NVIDIA MPS
Amazon ECS now supports sharing a single NVIDIA GPU among multiple tasks through NVIDIA Multi-Process Service, announced October 27, 2026. Developers set GPU memory and an optional compute share per container, and ECS places tasks on GPUs with free capacity. The feature is available on ECS Managed Instances and ECS on EC2 across all AWS commercial and GovCloud regions.
- Multiple ECS tasks run concurrently on one GPU without code changes
- GPU memory and compute share are set in the container definition
- Supported on ECS Managed Instances and ECS on EC2 in all AWS regions
- ECS replaces instances and migrates tasks if the MPS daemon fails
