Windows 11 lets users turn off web results in search

Microsoft is widening the rollout of a Windows 11 setting that disables web suggestions in Start menu search, prioritizing local apps, files and settings. The option sits under Privacy & security → Search, and there is no date for full availability or plans to enable it by default.

• The 'Show suggested search results' toggle disables web suggestions
• Rollout began in August 2026 and has not reached all PCs yet
• Without web search, calculations and weather results disappear
• Disabling it does not fully remove web help or the WebView2 process
