KIER catalysts remove ~99% of targeted pollutants from ammonia ship exhaust
A team led by Dr. Sun-Mi Hwang at the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) has developed all-in-one catalysts to treat exhaust from ammonia-fueled ships. The technology removes multiple greenhouse gases from ammonia combustion cost-effectively and is expected to support carbon neutrality in maritime shipping.
- Catalysts remove roughly 99% of targeted pollutants from exhaust
- The solution targets ships running on ammonia fuel
- Work was carried out at KIER's Clean Air Research Laboratory
