EU sets new identity verification standards under AMLR
AMLA has published its final report on draft Regulatory Technical Standards under Article 28(1) of the EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (EU) 2024/1624. The rules harmonize customer identity verification across the bloc, recognize eIDAS and forthcoming EUDI Wallets at substantial or high assurance levels, and require document authenticity checks aligned with ICAO standards. Application date is July 10, 2027.
