EU sets digital ID rules for cross-border health data exchange

The European Commission adopted Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/2099, defining interoperable cross-border ID and authentication for patients and health professionals in MyHealth@EU. It links health data exchange to eIDAS and the EUDI Wallet, with rollout starting March 26, 2027.

• Member states must notify healthcare attributes for patient identification by March 26, 2028
• Healthcare attributes must be issued as EUDI Wallet attestations by March 26, 2029
