systemd 262 released with static PID 1, Intel TDX and TPM hardening

The systemd project released version 262, tagged on September 22, 2026 after three release candidates. It adds a single statically linked PID 1 binary, Intel TDX support in systemd-vmspawn, TPM secrets pinned to the Storage Root Key, Argon2id for TPM2 PINs, embedded fallback units and an AI/LLM canary to flag unreviewed AI-generated code.
