Pinecone expands managed vector database to AWS, Azure and GCP with BYOC

Pinecone has added bring-your-own-cloud support to its managed vector database, letting customers keep the data plane in their own AWS, Azure or GCP account while Pinecone manages operations through its control plane. Toyota Motor North America is among the first production BYOC customers. Pinecone is also developing a fully self-managed option for air-gapped networks.

• BYOC keeps vectors and data inside the customer's cloud account and region, including regions outside Pinecone's standard service
• Pinecone requires no SSH, VPN, inbound network access or standing cross-account IAM role
• Upgrades and scaling are triggered by an outbound call from the control plane and executed locally
• Toyota Motor North America is one of the first BYOC customers in production
