Ransomware attacks on government agencies jump 91% in a year

Comparitech recorded 132 ransomware attacks on government organizations in Q3 2026, up 47% from 90 in Q2 and 91% year over year — more than one attack per day. The US saw the most incidents at 41 (+78%), and the average ransom demand exceeded $500,000.
