Blazar: a Rust video encoder for generative video with NVENC and GPU YUV
A developer released Blazar, an open-source video encoder for generative video models written in Rust. It fuses RGB-to-YUV conversion and tensor reshaping in one CUDA kernel, hitting 258 fps on an RTX 4080 Super versus 107 fps for PyAV and 51 fps for FFmpeg CLI.
- Blazar hits 258 fps on a BF16 tensor (1,3,121,1088,1920) on an RTX 4080 Super
- PyAV reaches 107 fps and FFmpeg CLI 51 fps on the same tensor
- Supports NVENC, VideoToolbox, x264, x265, VP9, SVT-AV1 and Opus
- Blazar scales 4x across 4 threads while PyAV caps at 2x due to the GIL
