Systemd creator's Amutable opens private preview signups for its Linux system
Amutable, the startup co-founded by Lennart Poettering, Christian Brauner and Chris Kühl, has opened signups for a private preview of Amutable Foundations, a service for managing immutable Linux fleets. The system relies on signed images, dm-verity, measured boot and systemd-report attestation, with changes delivered as new images instead of a package manager or SSH.
- Immutable system: signed images only, dm-verity and measured boot
- No package manager, SSH or interactive shell; updates replace the image
- Boot reports are signed via TPM or a software key fallback
- Open source tools tine (MPL-2.0) and Quarry (Apache-2.0) already released
