Apple explores letting sites extend behind Safari controls on iPhone Duo's outer display

Apple is investigating ways to let websites use the space behind Safari's right-aligned controls on the iPhone Duo's 5.4-inch outer display. In a WebKit blog post, Jen Simmons said a simple viewport-fit="cover" could obscure content and invited developers to share ideas.

• Simmons: sites currently can't extend behind the controls
• Simple viewport-fit="cover" risks obscuring important content
• Apple asks developers for a more foolproof approach
