SEMICON West 2026: chip scaling moves beyond the transistor
The semiconductor industry has already passed $1 trillion in annual revenue, with SEMI now projecting over $2 trillion by 2030 and up to $3 trillion by 2035. 300mm fab equipment spending is set at $149 billion this year, rising to $227 billion by 2029, with 20 new fabs or lines starting construction in 2026. The main challenge is co-optimizing packaging, photonics, power and test, while AI shifts from workload to design tool.
