BYD launches second-gen Seagull with 5-minute Flash Charging from $9,900

BYD has started selling the second-generation Seagull in China, its cheapest EV with Flash Charging. Prices run from 65,900 to 99,900 yuan ($9,900–15,000) before trade-in, and the battery charges from 10% to 70% in five minutes.

• Pricing: 65,900–99,900 yuan ($9,900–15,000), from 62,900 yuan with trade-in
• Blade 2.0 LFP packs of 30.1 and 39.2 kWh, CLTC range of 320 and 420 km
• Rear-wheel drive and 85 or 95 kW motor, up from 55 kW previously
• 10–70% charge in 5 minutes, 10–97% in 9 minutes, 20–97% in 12 minutes at −30°C
