Plasmonic coating on bacteria enables rapid sepsis diagnosis
Researchers at the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) have developed a label-free surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique that grows plasmonic metal nanostructures directly on and around bacterial cells. The method rapidly detects extremely low concentrations of viable bacteria, paving the way for fast sepsis diagnosis.
