HD Hyundai launches Aegis destroyer Daeho Kim Jong-seo

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries launched the third KDX-III Batch-II Aegis destroyer, Daeho Kim Jong-seo, at its Ulsan shipyard. The 8,200-ton, 170-meter vessel can reach 30 knots and carries an integrated sonar and ballistic missile intercept system, with delivery to the navy set for December 2027.

• Displacement 8,200 tons, length 170 m, beam 21 m, top speed 30 knots
• First ship in the class with ballistic missile interception capability
• Delivery to the South Korean navy planned for December 2027
• Will bring the fleet to six Aegis destroyers
