GM moves heavy-duty Silverado HD and Sierra HD to rack-and-pinion steering

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD will switch to rack-and-pinion steering with electric power assist, replacing the hydraulically boosted recirculating ball setup used for decades. GM pairs the change with a new 8.3-liter Duramax diesel; the trucks are rated to tow trailers up to 38,000 pounds.
