TypeScript 7.0 ships without a stable compiler API, breaking typescript-eslint
TypeScript 7.0 went GA on July 8, 2026, with builds 8–12x faster than TS 6, but it ships without a compiler API. typescript-eslint, ts-morph and ts-jest can't work with it because they import the old JavaScript API. A new API is expected in TypeScript 7.1.
- TypeScript 7.0 is a Go port of the compiler, 8–12x faster than TS 6
- The typescript@7.0.2 package has no main field and exports version.cjs
- typescript-eslint closed issue #12518 as "not planned" over the missing API
- A new IPC-based API is expected in TypeScript 7.1
