Windows App now connects directly to remote PCs without a work account
Microsoft has made direct remote PC connections generally available in the Windows App. No work or school account is required: authentication happens against the target computer, and machines can be added by IP address or PC name.
- Direct remote PC sessions are live in Windows App after a public preview period
- No Microsoft account is needed — sign-in occurs on the target computer
- PCs are added by IP address or name, with display and redirection settings available afterwards
- Remote Desktop must be enabled on the host, and the client comes from the Microsoft Store
