Retatrutide delivers up to 18.8% weight loss in type 2 diabetes trial

In the phase 3 TRIUMPH-2 trial, Eli Lilly's retatrutide cut body weight by 11.9–18.8% over 80 weeks in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes, versus 5.1% on placebo. Nearly half on the 12 mg dose lost at least 20% of their weight, though nausea and diarrhea were more common.

• Doses of 4, 9 and 12 mg produced 11.9%, 16.8% and 18.8% weight loss vs 5.1% on placebo
• 47% on 12 mg lost at least 20% of body weight vs 6% on placebo
• HbA1c fell 1.38–1.50 percentage points vs 0.45 on placebo
• Diarrhea occurred in 27–34% on the drug vs 13% on placebo
