Sugar in Red Meat Linked to Higher Type 2 Diabetes Risk

A study of nearly 90,000 adults found that those with the highest intake of meat-derived Neu5Gc had a 63% higher risk of type 2 diabetes than the lowest-intake group. The association weakened after adjustment for BMI and total red meat intake, and dairy-derived Neu5Gc showed no link to diabetes risk.
