CGM Links Blood Sugar Patterns to Blood Pressure and Cholesterol in Healthy Adults
Researchers at Boston University analyzed continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data from about 1,300 Framingham Heart Study participants without diabetes or cardiovascular disease. Higher average glucose and more time above 140 mg/dL were associated with greater likelihood of high blood pressure and differences in cholesterol levels. The findings were published in Diabetes Care.
- CGM data from about 1,300 adults without diabetes analyzed
- Time above 140 mg/dL linked to higher odds of high blood pressure
- Higher average glucose tied to differences in cholesterol levels
- Cross-sectional analysis cannot prove prediction of future disease
