Drugmakers say weight-loss drugs show signs of slowing biological aging
Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk reported at the Aging Research & Drug Discovery conference that patients on GLP-1 drugs show reduced biological age of about 2–3 years on molecular aging clocks, and up to 4 years on a heart-protein clock. Novo analyzed blood from 10,052 people, while Lilly tested tirzepatide using epigenetic clocks.
- Novo: semaglutide users showed 2–3 years lower biological age
- A heart-protein clock showed slowing of up to 4 years
- Novo analyzed blood samples from 10,052 people, half on placebo
- Lilly confirmed the effect for tirzepatide via epigenetic clocks
