GitLab 19.4 Adds Goal-Driven Agents and Tighter AI Cost Controls
GitLab released version 19.4 of its DevSecOps platform. GitLab Duo CLI gains a public beta /goal command that runs an agent until the task is done or an iteration limit is hit, with a second model checking progress. The release adds hosted open-weight models Kimi K3, MiniMax M3 and GLM 5.3, more MCP tools, and per-user credit caps.
- /goal command in GitLab Duo CLI is in public beta, requires GitLab 19.3 and Duo CLI 9.17.0
- Open-weight models Kimi K3, MiniMax M3 and GLM 5.3 offer up to 4x calls per GitLab Credit
- MCP tools: read-only defaults to Always Allow, write and delete default to Always Ask
- Credit usage exports break down by user, project and session; warnings at 50% and 80% of caps
