Scientists Built a DNA Computer That Runs Without Electricity
Researchers at Maynooth University in Ireland have developed one of the fastest DNA computers to date, using trillions of short DNA strands in a single drop of water to perform calculations. The system completed 700 computations with a 95% success rate, relying on heat and energetically favorable states instead of continuous energy input.
- DNA computer completed 700 calculations with 95% accuracy
- Simple problems took seconds, complex ones stretched to hours
- Computation relies on energetically favorable molecular states
- One cubic centimeter of DNA could theoretically store a trillion CDs
