New 'computational microscope' simulates DNA packaging at 10x scale
Researchers developed a computational method to simulate how DNA wraps around histone proteins into nucleosomes and organizes into chromatin. The model operates at more than ten times the scale of previous simulations, capturing molecular movements and interactions that are hard to observe experimentally.
- Method simulates DNA packaging into chromatin via nucleosomes
- Simulation scale is over 10x larger than before
- Approach aids study of gene reading and DNA repair
