Quantinuum Helios-1 leads quantum error-correction readiness study
An arXiv study compared 10 processors from Quantinuum, IBM and IQM, finding Helios-1 adds fewer errors during measurements critical to quantum error correction. Tests reached up to 91 data qubits, though successful error correction at that scale is not yet confirmed.
- Helios-1 beat other processors in surface-code tests with 25 data qubits
- IBM processors showed roughly 10x higher effective error rates from measurements
- Tests reached 81 data qubits for surface code and 91 for color code
- Only 50 circuit runs per point were needed to detect improvements
