HD Hyundai Heavy Industries launches offshore SMR demonstration center with 12 organizations

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and 12 organizations, including UNIST, KAIST, KEPCO E&C and Hyundai E&C, signed an agreement to establish an offshore small modular reactor (SMR) technology demonstration center at UNIST. The center will pool testing facilities and expertise to jointly develop, test and validate offshore SMR technologies.

• Agreement signed on October 6 at UNIST with 12 organizations involved
• Participants include HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, KEPCO E&C, Hyundai E&C and Korean Register
• Academic partners are UNIST, Seoul National University, KAIST and Hanyang University
• The center will share testing facilities to avoid duplicate investment
