Korean battery makers lose ground as Chinese rivals gain share
The combined share of LG Energy Solution, SK On and Samsung SDI in the non-China EV battery market fell to 26.8% in January–August 2026 from 37.9% a year earlier. Their battery usage dropped 12.8% to 96.5 GWh, while Chinese makers led by CATL raised their combined share to 56.2%.

- North American battery usage plunged 46.5%, from 47.4 to 25.3 GWh
- CATL ranked first outside China with 121.3 GWh and a 33.7% share
- LFP share in the non-China market rose from 15.6% to 27.5% in a year
