Imec unveils NeuroIGNITOR for nerve stimulation in living tissue
Imec has launched NeuroIGNITOR, a bidirectional neuromodulation research platform built around the NeuroIGNITE ASIC. It uses intermittent interferential current stimulation (i²CS) plus timed anodal block to cut off-target effects and power use, key for chronic implants.
- Bidirectional platform stimulates nerves and records responses in real time
- i²CS method localizes fiber activation in the swine vagus nerve
- Timed anodal block silences off-target axons via firing delay
- Electrode-agnostic system works with off-the-shelf electrodes
