EDG open-sources its C++ front end after 30 years
On September 30, 2026, EDG published the source code of its C++ front end on GitHub, ending three decades of commercial licensing to compiler vendors. The C++ Alliance, already a fiscal sponsor of Boost, becomes its nonprofit home, with John Spicer chairing the oversight committee.
