Windows 11 26H2 restores side taskbar and Start menu personalization

Microsoft released Windows 11 26H2, which brings back the ability to dock the taskbar on the left or right side and adds Start menu personalization with automatic app grouping. The update ships as a small enablement package (eKB) and requires version 24H2 or 25H2.

• Taskbar can again be docked to the left or right side
• Start menu gains size controls and automatic app grouping
• Update installs via eKB in seconds instead of 45 minutes
• Snapdragon ARM devices receive it as 26H1
