Cohere's chief AI officer: US and China will hold us 'by the throat' without local AI

Joëlle Pineau, chief AI officer of Canadian startup Cohere, told Sifted that smaller players outside the US and China must join forces to build credible alternatives to dominant AI model makers. The interview came just over a week after Cohere signed an agreement to merge with German AI startup Aleph Alpha.
