U.S. Army orders first high-energy laser system Locust X3 for $468.8M

The U.S. Army awarded its first high-energy laser air defense contract: $468.8 million to AeroVironment to produce the Locust X3. The 20–35+ kW system can disable Group 1–3 drones and is operated with an Xbox controller.
