Micron discontinues 2GB GDDR7 chips for gaming GPUs, pivots to AI memory

Micron has discontinued its 2GB (16Gb) GDDR7 chips in both 28 Gbps and 32 Gbps variants, marking them End of Life. The company is shifting focus to higher-density 3GB (24Gb) GDDR7 modules used in Nvidia's RTX PRO Blackwell AI GPUs. No immediate shortage is expected for GeForce RTX 50 cards, as Samsung and SK Hynix supply most 2GB GDDR7 modules.
