UK forms RAF squadron to protect satellites

The UK announced its first satellite protection unit, RAF No.III Space Effects Squadron, to guard critical communications infrastructure. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said losing GPS alone would cost the economy £1.4 billion a day, and cited reports of Russian interception of at least 12 European satellites since 2022.
