September Windows update broke File History: fix now available

The September 8 Patch Tuesday update broke File History in Windows 11 and Windows 10, preventing backups and showing drive-reconnect errors. A fix is available in optional preview updates KB5124006 (26H1) and KB5124010 (25H2/24H2); a patch for 23H2 and Windows 10 is still in the works.

• Affected: Windows 11 26H1, 25H2, 24H2, 23H2 and Windows 10 with ESU
• Symptoms include drive-reconnect errors and missing previous file versions
• Fix ships in optional preview updates KB5124006 and KB5124010
• No fix yet for Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 10
