TRAI orders Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL to launch data-free recharge plans

India's TRAI amended its telecom consumer protection rules on September 21, requiring Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL to offer cheaper recharge plans with voice calls and SMS only, without mandatory data. Operators must implement the changes within 30 days of the gazette notification; pricing has not been fixed yet.
