Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Extreme Gen 6 on 2nm
Qualcomm announced two flagship phone chips: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both are built on a 2nm process with minor differences — the Extreme adds better AI, video capture (8K 60fps, 4K 240fps, APV codec) and gaming. Motorola's Signature 27 will be the first phone to use the Extreme chip.
- Both chips use 2nm: two cores up to 5GHz, six up to 4GHz
- Extreme captures 8K at 60fps and 4K at 240fps, supports APV codec
- Extreme has a larger NPU memory pool and AI matrix cores in the GPU
- Motorola, Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, iQoo, OnePlus, Redmi and ZTE will adopt the chips
