India to require BIS certification for phone screen protectors from April 1, 2027

MeitY confirmed that smartphone screen protectors will fall under mandatory BIS registration under standard IS 19348:2025 starting April 1, 2027. Manufacturers and importers have a transition period until March 31, 2027; the standard covers thickness, glass strength, coatings, films and packaging.
