Semtech launches 224G TIAs and drivers for NPO and CPO datacentres

At CIOE in Shenzhen, Semtech introduced a family of 224G linear transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) and drivers aimed at accelerating near-packaged optics (NPO) and co-packaged optics (CPO) deployments in AI/ML clusters and hyperscale datacentres. The GN1838L, GN42T380 and GN42M380 target 1.6T to 12.8T optical engines, addressing power and density bottlenecks.

• GN1838L and GN42T380 are claimed as the industry's first linear octal TIAs
• GN42M380 driver supports SiPho, InP MZM and TFLN modulators
• Channel pitch: 500µm for GN1838L, 375µm for GN42T380 and GN42M380
• NPO and CPO are entering their initial ramp in 2026
