AWS Cannot Restore Data Held Only in Damaged Middle East Zones

AWS has told customers it cannot restore data hosted exclusively in the mec1-az2 availability zone in the UAE and across the entire Bahrain region, both damaged during the conflict with Iran. The damage exceeded what its regional and multi-AZ services are designed to withstand; AWS is replacing infrastructure and will detail Bahrain recovery in early 2027.
