Scientists Discover Compound That Burns Fat Without Killing Appetite
UC Berkeley researchers studied compound TOFA, which increases cellular energy expenditure without affecting food intake. In mice, it improved insulin sensitivity, lowered triglycerides, and reduced fat without muscle loss; energy expenditure rose up to 18%.
- TOFA suppresses lipid synthesis and activates PPARα and PPARδ receptors
- Energy expenditure in mice rose up to 18% without increased activity
- Combined with semaglutide and tirzepatide, effect intensified
- Compound has only been tested in animals so far
