What you need to know about the foreign-made router ban in the US

The FCC banned the sale of new consumer routers manufactured outside the US due to national security threats. Already used and approved devices will continue to work and receive updates at least until January 1, 2029. Netgear, Eero, Asus, Arcadyan, Zyxel, SpaceX, and others received conditional approval.

• Ban applies only to new Wi-Fi routers and mobile hotspots for home use
• Conditional approval allows selling new devices for 18 months
• Netgear approved until October 1, 2027; Eero until October 31, 2027
• Asus received approval until March 6, 2028
