WhatsApp adds mention filter and group-only statuses

WhatsApp is rolling out four features for busy group chats: a filter for unread groups with mentions and replies, statuses visible only to group members, permanent pinned messages and the ability to share recent history with a member after they join. Group statuses disappear after 24 hours, and shared messages stay end-to-end encrypted.

• Filter surfaces unread groups with mentions, replies and @all
• Group status is visible only to members and expires in 24 hours
• Pinned messages can now stay pinned indefinitely
• Recent history can be sent to a member after they join
