IBM and Broadcom validate Oracle AI Database 26ai on FlashSystem and Fibre Channel

IBM and Broadcom tested Oracle AI Database 26ai on a FlashSystem 9000 array with 24 FlashCore Modules and a Brocade Gen 8 SAN fabric. In-database vector search behaves like an IOPS-bound OLTP workload, while fabric speed sets the ceiling during index builds.

• Test setup: FlashSystem 9000, 24 FlashCore Modules, 64G FC ports and Brocade G820 switches
• Dual Xeon 6767P host with Emulex 64G HBAs and no GPU in the storage path
• Vector search in 26ai is OLTP-like: roughly 4KB random reads per index hop
• VectorDBBench on the BioASQ 1M dataset compared 32G and 64G fabric
