Airbnb Cuts Recommendation Staleness from 2 Days to Seconds with Chronon

Airbnb extended its open-source Chronon feature platform with Push Mode and Near Real Time Model Transform, updating sequence-based recommendation embeddings within 10–30 seconds of guest activity. Embedding staleness dropped from nearly two days to under a minute, with a 1.67% offline NDCG gain and about 0.33% more uncancelled bookings in online A/B tests.
