LA speed cameras go live, fines start Dec. 26
Los Angeles activated its automated speed-camera network on Oct. 26, 2026, with a 60-day warning period before fines begin on Dec. 26. Penalties range from $50 to $500 depending on how far over the limit a driver is going. California Assembly Bill 645 authorizes 125 camera systems across all 15 LA Council districts.
- Cameras trigger at 11 mph over the limit and capture rear plates
- Fines run $50–100 for 11–25 mph over, up to $500 at 100+ mph
- Violations are civil and add no points to a driver's license
- The full 125-camera network is due by the end of 2026
