Developer boots iOS 26 natively on Microsoft's Surface Duo 2
Developer SmuOS (None24) has booted iOS 26.5.2 natively on Microsoft's discontinued Surface Duo 2, a Snapdragon 888 dual-screen phone. Both displays and touch work, the system identifies as an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the port runs Apple's XNU kernel via the UniXNU UEFI loader with Metal translated to Vulkan.
- The port uses Apple's open-source XNU kernel and the custom UniXNU UEFI loader
- Both displays run at 37 fps and touch support arrived on October 25
- Metal is translated to Vulkan via the Turnip driver for the Adreno 660
- 29.6 million arm64e pointer signatures were stripped from the iOS cache for Snapdragon 888 compatibility
