EU accepts Temu's plan to curb illegal products after €200M fine
The European Commission has accepted Temu's plan to improve compliance with the Digital Services Act, five months after fining the marketplace €200 million for failing to properly assess the risk of illegal products. Temu must submit an interim risk assessment covering the six months to November 30, 2026, within four months.
- The €200M fine, issued May 28, said Temu's 2024 risk assessment relied on general data, not platform-specific evidence
- The plan covers five areas, including scrutiny of recommendation algorithms and content moderation
- An interim risk assessment for the period ending November 30, 2026 is due within four months
- DSA fines can reach 6% of global turnover; AliExpress was fined €550M in July
