OpenTelemetry JS 3.0 ships with three breaking changes and split peer ranges
On October 20, @opentelemetry/api 1.10 and SDK 3.0 were released. Testing 27 scenarios on both lines revealed three breaking changes: SimpleSpanProcessor now takes an options object, sdk-trace-base is replaced by sdk-trace with BasicTracerProvider renamed to TracerProvider, and sdk-node 0.300 no longer re-exports the SDK. The peer ranges of the two lines don't overlap, so a single dependency can't support both.
- SimpleSpanProcessor in 3.0 takes {exporter}; the old call silently drops spans
- BasicTracerProvider is renamed TracerProvider and sdk-trace-base becomes sdk-trace
- sdk-node 0.300 exports only NodeSDK and startNodeSDK
- Peer ranges for API <1.10.0 and >=1.10.0 do not overlap
